ROBERT S. CATES
Robert S. Cates, 69, Route 1, Pleasant Hope, was dead on arrival at Cox Medical Center at 5:40 a.m today. Death followed a long illness.

He was a retired farmer, veteran of World War II, and a member of Rock Prairie Church.

Mr. Cates is survived by his wife, Hazel; one son, Robert Eugene, Seattle, Wash., three step-daughters, Mrs. June Workman, North Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Janet L. Clark, 1615 North Hampton, and Mrs. Shirley Holzman, Panama City, Fla., five grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Klingner will announce funeral arrangements.

PLEASANT HOPE---Hazel M. Cates, 74, Route 1, Pleasant Hope, died at 12:05 a.m. today in her home after a short illness.

A lifelong resident of Pleasant Hope, she is survived by three daughters, June Workman, Lampe, Jeanette L. Clark, Pleasant Hope, and Shirley J. Holzman, Panama City, Fla.; three brothers, Robert Fields, Willard, Ray Fields, Springfield, and Ralph Fields, Buffalo; a sister, Belle Brown, Long Lane; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be announced by Klingner Mortuary.

Services for Hazel M. Cates, 74, Route 1, Pleasant Hope, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Klingner Mortuary, Springfield, with the Rev. Thomas M. McClain officiating. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery north of Pleasant Hope.

Mrs. Cates died at 12:05 a.m. Monday in her home after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
