Fred Hager, 91, Strafford, died at 11:38 p.m. Sunday in Cox Medical Center North, Springfield, after a long illness.A retired self-employed well driller with Hager Well Drilling, Mr. Hager was a Veteran of World War I and a member of Strafford First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Marybell; a daughter, Beatrice V. Grunlien, Strafford; a son, Charles L. Hager,Springfield; two sisters, Maude Swearengin,Springfield, and Flossie Chandler, Tulsa, Okla.; six grand children; seven great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Ra-gan-Thieme Funeral Home North Chapel, 1200 Boonville, Springfield, with Rev. V.H. Shumway and Dr. J. Calvin Holsinger officiating. Burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Strafford First Assembly of God Building Fund
Mary-belle "Belle" Hager, 89, Stratford, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday in her home following a long illness. Marybelle "Belle" Cannaday was born May 26, 1903, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of John and Mary Ellen Bridges Cannaday. Marybelle was united in marriage on July 3, 1917, to Fred Hager, who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a lifelong resident of the Springfield and Strafford areas. She with her husband, owned and operated Hager's Restaurants and Grocery Stores in both Springfield and Strafford. Belle was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Strafford.
