Denton, Mo. - Funeral services for Oscar Eugene James were held from the General Baptist church here Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Mr. James, a resident of this community for sixty years, died Tuesday of a heart attack at the home of his son, C.A. James. His wife had preceded him in death.
He was born in Hickman, Ky. and was 75 years old.
Survivors are five sons, C.A. of Denton, W.O. of Wardell, Odell of Kerman, Calif., Clarence of Rockford, Ill., and L.L. of Detroit, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Talley of Denton, Mrs. Etta Whittington of Steele, Mrs. Marcus Brown of Kerman, Calif. and Mrs. Billie Buys of Denton.
Also survives are 28 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Frank, residing in Tennessee and James of Denton; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Heathcock of Denton, Mrs. Polly Schultz of near Steele and Mrs. Della Brumley of Steele.
The family is one of the largest to be identified prominently in the community for so many years.
Services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C.W. Hank and burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery with German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Mrs. Amanda Commelia May James died in Walls Hospital in Blytheville, November 8, 1951. she was 71 years, 3 months and 2 days old.

Mrs. James was born in Finley, Tenn., August 6, 1880. She had lived in this community 60 years. She was residing at Denton at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Denton Baptist Church Sunday, November 11, at 2:00 p.m. and were conducted by the Rev. G. W. Hanks of Lutesville, Mo.

Her survivors are: her husband, Oscar James of Denton; five sons,
G. A. James of Steele, W. O. James of Wardell, O. D. James of Kerman, Calif., Clarence James of Rockford, Ill., and L. L. James of Detroit; four sisters: Mrs. Ella Talley of Denton, Mrs. Etta Whittington of Steele, Mrs. Macie Brown of Kerman, Calif., and Mrs. Betty Lee Buys of Denton; 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fate Raines of Gunner, Texas, and John Raines of Murray, Ky.; and two sisters, Mrs. Patsy Anderson of Steele and Mack Smith of Perryton, Texas.
