Marshall Henry Thomas, 94, of Cooter, Mo., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born January 25, 1908 in Bells, Tenn., son of the late David Braden and Iona Cox Thomas, he was a farmer and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter. He served on the Cooter School Board, the Commission of Special Road District, Board of Special School District and was founder of No. 8 Cemetery Corporation.
On December 25, 1927, he married Ludie Blessing, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Jerrell Thomas, of Los Altos Hills, Calif. and Kenny Thomas, of Blytheville, Ark.; five daughters, Maxine Johnson and Nina Lynn both of Blythville, , Shirley Johnson, of Cooter, Mary Frances Buus, of Yucaipa, Calif. and Margie Hester, of Steele; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Myrle Thomas; two brothers, T.C. and David Thomas and one sister, Lucille Williamson.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 2, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.
Burial was in the Number Eight Cemetery at Cooter.

Ludie Blessing Thomas, 91, of Cooter, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Daughter of the late Lille Beckett and Homer Blessing, she was a homemaker, a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church, member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Number Eight Support Club. She had worked at Blytheville Hospital, River Oaks Nursing Home and Day's Mens Store.
She married Marshall H. Thomas, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Myrle Thomas and Frankie Thomas Buus and four brothers, Howard, Alvin, Edward and Coy Blessing.
Survivors include four daughers, Maxine Johnson and Nina Tackett and husband Terry, all of Blytheville; Shirley Johnson, of Cooter and Margie Hester and husband, Berry, of Steele, Mo.; two sons, Dr. Jerrell M. Thomas and wife, Vicki, of Los Altos Hills, Calif. and Kenneth B. Thomas and wife, Jennett, of Blytheville; brothers and sisters, Tommy, Mason and Clyde Blessing, Alta Johnson, Jonnie Coffey and Myrna Ferguson; 21 grandchildren, Billy, Mark and Scott Johnson, Cara Goff and Kelly Thomas, all of Blytheville, Neel Johnson and Leslie Hester, both of Memphis, Tenn., Beth McCutcheon and Kevin Hester, both of Steele, Dana Ford, of Jonesboro, Ark., Beverly Stellman, of Kikato, Minn., Cindy Wilson, of Limiru, Kenya, Africa, Tim Thomas of San Jose, Calif., Terry Dabbs, of Yucaipa, Calif., Lisa DeSchane and Leigh Pinto, both of Pea Ridge, Ark., Joe Johnson, of Leland, Miss., Brian Lynn, of Baltimore, Md., Ginger Lynn, of Columbia, Mo., Chris Thomas, of Little Elk, Texas, and Jeremy Thomas, of Little Rock, Ark.; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Steele with the Rev. David Lewelling officiating.
Burial was in the Number Eight Cemetery near Cooter.
