Mr. John Horace Turner died at his home Sunday morning, January 14, 1951 at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 24 days. His wife, Frances Elizabeth, preceded him in death October 25, 1949.
Mr. Turner was born in Madison County, Tenn., on June 20, 1872 and moved to Missouri in 1897. The balance of his life was spent in and around Steele.
Funeral services were conducted at the Steele Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon, January 16, 1951 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Marvin Niblack.
He is survived by two sons: William (Bill) Turner of Steele, and Arthur Turner, of Milan, Tenn.; two daughters: Stella Turner and Mrs. Mattie Freeland, both of Steele, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Baxter Southern, Clark Frame, Joe Turnbow, Garrett Dillender, Johnny Turnbow and Japp Northcutt. Honorary pallbearers were: R.E.L. Smith, Homer Alexander, Frank Rose, J.P. Averett, S.L. Robinson, John R. Morgan, Hubert Knight, Albert Woodard, Jack Rude, Dr. McLane, Carl Cooper, and Thomas Ash.
Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery with Holt Funeral Home of Blytheville, Ark., in charge of arrangements.
