Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, August 26 for Will Woodard, well known retired farmer, who passed away in the Baptist Hospital at Memphis Tuesday afternoon, after a long illness.
Mr. Woodard was born on August 6, 1879, at Ripley, Tennessee. He grew up there and was married to Miss Emma Dunivant on December 8, 1900. To this union was born seven children, one of which died in infancy. Mrs. Woodard succumbed on January 4, 1945.
Before retiring, Mr. Woodard farmed and later was employed at both the Blytheville and Malden Air Bases. He died at the age of 75 years and 18 days. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for many years and was a faithful worker.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Bro. H.F. Sharp, and assisted by Hayden Mayhan. Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery and German Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Woodard is survived by: three sons, Clarence Woodard of Blytheville and Vernon and Lewis Woodard, both of St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Lovelace and Mrs. Evans Wilson of Steele, and Mrs. Harry Burden of Ennis, Texas; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
