Funeral services for William Robert Turner were conduced Friday, August 23, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Steele by the Rev. V. Carl Hickman and the Rev. James F. McCrary.

A Steele resident for the past 51 years, Mr. Turner was born November 16, 1896 in Jackson, Tenn. He died August 21, 1974 at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti at the age of 77.

Mr. Turner leaves his widow, Ocie Hamilton Turner; and two sisters: Mattie Freeland, Paducah, Ky., and Stella Turner, Titusville, Fla.

Graveside services were conducted by the Steele Oddfellows.

Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Wayne Cooper, Austin Pfeffer, Clark Frame, Oscar Whittington, Robert Carter and Clarence Poteet.

Honorary pallbearers included Jack Crump, Bob Tatum, James Ray, Jerry Graham, Mike Graham, J.P. Averett, Homer Alexander, Joe Samford, Vernon Wells, Hobart Poteet, Bert Poteet, Joe Saliba, and Charles Kelley.


Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Ocie Turner, 81, were held Saturday, December 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Rev. Jim Doyle officiated.
Mrs. Turner was born May 29, 1902, in Lexington, Tenn., and died December 20, 1983, at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
She leaves one sister, Mrs. Exie Barrow of Steele; Seven nieces, Janet Dudley of Mission, Tex., Martha Smith of Statesville, N.C., Estelle Whitfield of Hayti, Fern Huffman of Poplar Bluff, Katie Fullhart of Hayti, Hazel Reid of St. Louis, and Maebelle Davidson of Jackson, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Clarence Poteet, Reginald Watkins, Mark Patterson, Herman Via, Alvin Hawkins, and Leon Burns.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
