Hobert T. Marshall, well known business man of Steele, died here late Wednesday afternoon. He had been in ill health for two or three years and was stricken with paralysis five months ago. He was 43 years of age.

Born Sept. 17, 1904, in Steele, he had lived here all his life and was educated in the local schools. A member of the Church of Christ, he was very active in the affairs of his church.

Mr. Marshall was a member of the Order of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 859 and members of the lodge will serve as pall bearers.

At the time of his death he was foreman of Dolphin Land Co., near Steele, and prior to that had been manager of several gins in this locality.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Janie Marshall; two sons, J. D. Marshall and Frank Marshall, both at home; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Alice McCann, of Steele, and Miss Faye Marshall at home. He also is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Viola Marshall, of Memphis; two brothers, Thomas E. Marshall of Jefferson City and James Roy Marshall of Memphis; five sisters, Mrs. Beryle Rhyne of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. W. T. Northern of Memphis, Mrs. Floyd Bledsoe of West Memphis, Ark., Mrs. Ward Werland of Memphis and Miss Jane Marshall of Memphis; and one granddaughter, Delores McCann, of Steele.

Funeral services will be held Friday aftenoon at 2:30 at the Church of Christ, conducted by H. F. Sharp, pastor.

Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, with German Undertaking Co. in charge of arrangements.

Janie Lee Marshall, 91, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
She was born October 29, 1908 in Braggadocio, the daughter of the late James Morgan and Sarah Adams Marshall.
She was a homemaker and a member of Boone's Chapel of Steele. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Marshall.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Gary Burton of Steele; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank Marshall and Ruth Marshall; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, April 16, 2000 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Mr. Bill Lovelace and Mr. Michael Horton officiating. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
