The Steele Enterprise, Steele, Missouri
Friday, June 12, 1959
William R. (Jack) Phillips, 70, died at the Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville Monday only a short time after he was returned to the hospital. He had been at his home in Steele for several weeks.
Mr. Phillips was a retired poultry and livestock dealer here and was a veteran of World War I. He had lived here for the past 57 years.
Funeral services were held at Steele Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 3:00. Rev. Roy W. Bevans, pastor of the church, officiated with interment in the Mount Zion Cemetery. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Mike Wilson, Jim Littlejohn, Bill Baxter, Carl Sheeley, Garvin May and C.S. Allbritton.
Honorary pallbearers were D.C. Pafford, Mrs. P.S. Payne, Ben Burns, Floyd Smith, Grady Anderson, P.G. Morgan, and C.A. Swindle.
