Gus Wade, retired farmer of near Steele, died at his home early Saturday morning from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. He was 60 years, 2 months and 8 days of age, and had been in bad health for some time.

Mr. Wade had lived for many years just southwest of New Survey. A long-time land owner, he had recently had his land farmed by his son, Noel K. whom friends called "Wad".

According to friends, Mr. Wade was worried about his son who was in Little Rock with the National Guard because of the Little Rock integration crisis.

Funeral services were held at the Steele Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 1:30. Rev. Marvin Niblack, pastor of the Steele Methodist Church officiated and interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Wade, and one son, Noel K. Wade, both of this vicinity.

German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge.

Funeral services for Ella "Ted" Parnell Wade, 78, Hayti, formerly of Steele, were Monday, April 29, 1991 at 1 p.m. at the Bradshaw German-Aumon Chapel in Steele with Rev. Miles Ziegler officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Wade died April 27, 1991 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti. She was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Tennessee, to Solomon and Izora Smith Parnell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti. On July 25, 1929 in Blytheville, Ark., she was married to James Augustus Wade, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Noel K. Wade of Hayti; one daughter-in-law, Sue Wade of Hayti; four sisters, Dimple Talley of Camdenton, MO., Delphia Parsons of Greenfield, Ind., Thelma Poetz of St. Louis, Lillian Foreman of Alton, Ill.; two granddaughters, one grandson and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Eckless, Carrow and Clint Parnell.
