Sometimes referred to as the "Granddaddy" of Gospel Song Writing. He composed over 800 Bluegrass and Country songs, but primarily Gospel. In 1943 he established Albert E. Brumley and Sons Publishing Company and in 1948 he purchased Hartford Music Company of Hartford, AR.

Some of his songs are: "Turn Your Radio On", "Jesus Hold My Hand",and "I'll Fly Away"

Brumley was inducted into The Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1972 in recognition for his life long contribution to Gospel music.

Some of the many recording artist who recorded some of Brumley's songs:
Jim Davis, Red Foley, Jim Reeves, Chet Atkins, George Jones, Jimmy Dean, Porter Wagoner, Webb Pierce, Roy Acuff, Skeeter Davis, The Oak Ridge Boys, Ernest Tubb, and Granpa Jones.

Elvis Presley told Albert E. Brumley, Sr., his mother Gladys Presley's favorite song was “If We Never Meet Again (This Side Of Heaven)”. It was later used at his mother Gladys’ funeral, and Elvis recorded the song as well.

Brumley is laid to rest in Fox Cemetery near Powell Mo next to his wife of 49 years, Goldie Schell.

Albert E. Brumley and Sons is now "Brumley Music" www.brumleymusic.com, so his legacy lives on. Bio by TSLundberg
