Mrs. Betty J. Story passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at her Willow Springs, Missouri, home surrounded by family. Born on January 15, 1929 in Houston, Missouri, to George and Lula (Kelly) Mayberry, she was 81 years old.
Betty was raised in Houston where she attended the local schools.
On February 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to James Story. To this union twelve children were born.
Betty was an active member of Rivers of Living Water Church.
Betty had many enjoyments in life which included embroidering baby quilts for the Stitches of Love Sewing Group, fishing, word search puzzles, gardening and caring for her animals. However, her greatest enjoyment came from raising her twelve children and caring for her many grandchildren. It was said by her family that she always found room in her home for anyone in need. Many people knew her as "Grandma." Betty will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Story; her daughter, Linda Gray; her son, Mike Story; and several brothers and sisters.
Betty is survived by her five sons, Jesse "Eddie" Story and wife Wanda of Palmyra, Missouri, Danny Story and wife Peggy of Monroe City, Missouri, Clarence Story and wife Moreen "Mo" of Willow Springs, Freddie Story and wife Teri of Willow Springs, and Chuck Story and wife Cheryl of Hannibal, Missouri; five daughters, Kathy Castle and husband Roger of Willow Springs, Sandy Secord and husband Steve of Omaha, Nebraska, Marrie Cole and husband Jeff of Cabool, Missouri, Joy Loughridge and husband Brian of Willow Springs, and Bonnie "Pooh" Smith and husband Tige of Palmyra, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Morgan of Palmyra, Missouri.
The funeral service was Friday, July 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Willow Funeral Home, Willow Springs. Burial was at Nagle Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, Willow Springs.
