Maxine E. Epperson, 47, daughter of Elmer Huff and Jessie (Mabe) Huff, was born July 4, 1936 near Clara. She died January 22, 1984 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis.
Survivors are her husband, Gerald of the home, three sons, Ricky Epperson of Overland, Jay Epperson of Harvester, and Randy of Great Lakes, IL; one daughter, Pam of St. John; three brothers, Charles Huff of Sullivan, Leon Huff of Phoenix, AL, and Lonnie Huff of St. Clair; four sisters, Lucille Durling of Sappington, Barbara Moore of Fairbanks, AK, Hazel Miller of Success and Marcia Williams of Grain Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She and her husband spent several years living in St. Louis.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the First Baptist Church in Houston with the Rev. David Gray officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery.

Gerald Eugene Epperson, 71, son of Cal Epperson and Una Reynolds Epperson McBride, was born Oct. 29, 1932, at Solo. He died March 7, 2004, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
He grew up in the Solo area and entered the Air Force Nov. 5, 1951. He was honorably discharged Nov. 4, 1955.
He met and married Maxine Huff. They lived in St. Louis, where they raised their family of four children. Mr. Epperson was a plumber.
He bought a farm in the Success area in the '60s and spent many weekends on the farm, driving from St. Louis after work on Fridays.
After retiring, he moved to the farm. He loved working his cattle and deer hunting and looked forward each year to deer season.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Pam Dashley; and one granddaughter.
Surviving are three sons, Ricky Epperson of St. Ann, Bradley Epperson of Wright City and Randy Epperson of Overland; seven brothers, Norman Epperson of Bucyrus, Kenneth Epperson of Columbia, John Epperson of Lewiston, Sherman Epperson of Texas, Tommy Epperson of Illinois, Ed McBride of Houston and Donald Keith McBride of Armstrong; six sisters, Pat Majesky of Jefferson, Ore., Jackie Garin of Maryville, Ill., Kathy Bogdanovich of St. Louis, Mary Piker and Sandy Love of Troy, Ill., and Shirley Cornman of Doniphan; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were March 10 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Moore officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery. (Houston Herald Obituary Archives, Apr 19, 2004)
