Jonathan Ellis Stice, the son of Phillip Wshington Stice and Schirilda Cockriel, was born March 1, 1868 in Platte County, Missouri. His paternal grandparents were Phillip Stice and Rebecca Dicus or Dycus of Edmonson County, Kentucky. His maternal grandparents were James Cockriel and Lucinda Sirles of Grayson County, Kentucky. He died on May 1, 1884 at the age of 16 years and 2 months. He was buried in the New Hope Cemetery in Texas County, Missouri where his parents were later buried.
