Mr. Creed Mooneyham, 86, of Elk Creek, Missouri, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 19, 2009.
He was born on July 22, 1922 in Tennessee, the son of Samuel and Cassie (Price) Mooneyham.
Creed served in the U.S. Army for 15 years during World War II and the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Esther Lee Cobb in 1945, and to this union nine children were born.
He worked at a lead processing plant in Charlotte, North Carolina, for 22 years until taking early retirement due to health complications. They moved to Elk Creek on April 19, 1991. He spent endless hours gardening and tending to the flowers. Creed was a very quiet and private person who loved to spend time with his family.
Creed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Esther; a son, Junior; and infant twins.
He is survived by five daughters, Joyce Hoar and husband Harold of Elk Creek and Patsy Mooneyham, Linda Soles, Debbie Godfrey and husband Wayne, and Annette Lang, all of North Carolina; a son, James Mooneyham of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, J.P. Mooneyham of Oregon; a sister, Janie Hord of North Carolina; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Private burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Cabool, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
