Mrs. Oma Cochran, wife of J.A. Cochran of Holland, was killed in an accident which occurred at Milford, Ind. on Sunday, September 4, when she was crushed between a truck and a barn.
Mr. and Mrs. Cochran and some of their family had been to Michigan picking cherries earlier in the summer and had gone to Indiana for the vegetable harvest, expecting to be home in about two weeks.
According to Mr. Cochran, the two of them were sitting on some oil barrels against the barn when one of their sons drove up in the truck, pretending he was going to run over them. He said he jumped out of the way, but that his wife stayed where she was, laughing at the boy.
When the lad attempted to stop the truck the brakes failed and the vehicle hit Mrs. Cochran crushing her against the barn.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Holland Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. Truman House conducting the service. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery, with German Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Cochran was born in Alabama, but had lived in Holland for many years.
She is survived by her husband; seven sons, John L. Cochran of Haines City, Fla., R.V. and Talmadge Cochran of St. Louis, Charles, J.V., Buddy and John Cochran of the home; four daughters, Mrs. M.J.
