Doris M. Hoyle, 88, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri.
She was born on June 14, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Samuel B. and Corma P. (Massey) Butts.
Doris attended Gum Springs Country School and Cabool High School. When she finished school she went to work and lived in Kansas City. She worked at Pratt Whittney Aircraft, where she inspected cylinder heads at an ammunition plant.
On November 26, 1948, Doris married the love of her life, Robert E. Hoyle of Cabool, and they spent 51 happy years together. She was a homemaker and raised their four children in the Maryland Heights, Missouri, area for over 28 years. After Bob retired from St. Louis Water Company, they returned to the Cabool area to be close to their parents. Doris enjoyed her family and children. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved playing games and cards with her grandchildren.
They later spent their winters in south Texas, where Doris enjoyed walking along the beach with Bob, looking for shells. They made many new friends as well as enjoying old friends from the Cabool area. Doris also spent many days with her brother, Earl Butts, fishing from the piers in Port Aransas.
Bob and Doris lived at the Cabool senior apartments until Bob passed away in 1999. Doris moved to Washington, Missouri, and later returned to the Cabool area, living at Pineview Heights Senior Apartments. Due to failing health, she moved into Kabul Nursing Home.
Doris was a member of Providence Free Will Baptist Church and attended many of the church services while at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Corma Butts; her husband, Robert Hoyle; and one son-in-law, Dallas Reed, all of Cabool.
Doris is survived by her brother, Earl Butts and wife Erma of Cabool; one son, Rusty Hoyle and wife Beverly of Cabool; three daughters, Patty Reed of Cabool, Carol Lee and husband Eddie of Villa Ridge, Missouri, and Jeannie Hoyle of Cuba, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with several other family members and friends.
