Aaron L. Gist, age 76, a retired farmer, died Sunday, January 14, 1979, in the Chickasawba Hospital. He had been a Blytheville resident since 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Valma Gist; three sons: David Gist of Steele, Julius Gist and Billy Gist, both of Gosnell; five daughters: Mrs. U.V. Cleveland, Mrs. Ruby Dent, and Mrs. Dorsey Blair, all of St. Louis; Mrs. Beatrice Lair of Viburnum, Mo., and Mrs. Reba Cockran of Armona, Calif.; one brother, Amas Gist of Nettleton, Miss.; one sister, Mrs. Clancy bean of Nocatee, Fla.; 36 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday, January 17, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Faulkner officiating and burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.



Mrs. Valma Gist, aged 79, widow of Aaron Gist, died Sunday, May 4, at River Oaks Nursing Home. She was a former Blytheville resident.
She leaves three sons, David Gist of Steele, Julius Gist of Blytheville, and Billy Gist of Manila; Five daughters, Mrs. U.V. Cleveland of Booneville, Miss., Mrs. Beatrice Blair of Viburnum, Mo., Mrs. Ruby Speers and Mrs. Dorsey Blair, both of St. Louis, and Mrs. Reba Cochran of Armona, Cal.; A brother, Ludie Milam of Red Bay, Ala.; 39 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 7 at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Haynes officiating with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
