Malverda Griggs, 79, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, February 28, 1993, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett, Mo.
Born October 22, 1913 in Red Bay, Ala., she was a daughter of the late James Andrew and Della Barcol Hammock.
Two children, Betty and Billy Griggs, also preceded her in death.
On February 23, 1943 at Blytheville she married Archie Griggs. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1977.
Affiliated with the Nazarene Church, she was a cook.
Mrs. Griggs leaves two brothers: Archie Hammock and Orbin Hammock, both of Tupelo, Miss; and five sisters: Rosie Lee Thompson of Fisk, Mo. and Merley Mayhall, Lucille Hammock, Jean Hamon and Becky McFaden, all of Tupelo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Griggs were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 1993, at Bradshaw's German-Aumon Chapel with Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw's German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Herbert Johnson, Billy Woods, Scott Herron, Perry Jumper, Dennis Mooney and David Mooney.
Joseph Mooney was an honorary pallbearer.
