Mr. Willard D. Rhodes passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Born on Jan. 31, 1922, in Shannon County, Mo., to Sam and Cordelia (Boyd) Rhodes, he was 84 years old. Mr. Rhodes proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retiring from McDonald Aircraft in St. Louis, he moved to Cabool, where he resided until his death. Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Cordelia Rhodes; four sisters, Grace Helton, Lela Cobble, Ruth Riley and Mabel Crabtree; two brothers, Elmer "Haydon" Rhodes and Houston Rhodes. Willard is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services were held on July 10, 2006, at the Willow City Cemetery in Willow Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
