Betty (Gladden) Overby-Davis, 91 of Cabool, MO passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Kabul Nursing Home. She was born on May 18, 1922 in Elk Creek, MO the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Gladden.
Betty lived her entire life in Texas County. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and worked for the US Postal Service for 31 years. She was a lifetime member of the WSCS in the St. Louis Conference and a member of the Cabool United Methodist Church for 82 years; she sang in the church choir for 30 years and played the piano for Sunday night service for 28 years. She also played for neighborhood Church Revivals and nursing home activities when asked.
Betty was united in marriage to Tom Overby on December 30, 1945; there were no children born of this marriage. Tom passed away on April 5, 1976. In September of 1997 Betty was united in marriage to Gene Davis at the Cabool United Methodist Church by Rev. Bob Moger. They had many good years of trips to Branson to take in shows and enjoy the music, may trips to Elk Creek to square dance, eat and have fun.
Betty is survived by her husband, Gene Davis of Cabool; two step-sons, Alan Davis and wife, Julie of Republic, MO and Dowell Davis and wife, Cindy of Cabool, MO; 4 grandchildren, Bradley, Brady and Trason Davis and Angela Tate; a great granddaughter, Melody Tate; 2 first cousins, Bill Gladden and wife, Vera of Houston, MO and Jane Waddleton and husband, Bill of Temecula, CA; cousin, Linda Elliott of Ozark, MO and a brother-in-law, Jim Overby and wife, Joyce of Bernie, MO. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
