From Ella Lilly Horak's book Willow Springs and Surrounding Communities 1869-1969 Centennial: "Mr. Anson began his career as a blacksmith when 18 years old, in 1903. His first shop was on Harris Street in an old frame building just back of the Sass three story brick building on the corner of Second and Harris. He did all kinds of smithy work, and shod many horses and mules for the farmers of the surrounding communities. His anvil rang day after day for nearly 70 years.....In 1968 the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce honored Mr. Anson for his 66 years of services well done to our city and surrounding communities."
