Graveside services for Grace Elizabeth Lampitt, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at Mackey Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lampitt died at 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at West Vue Nursing Center.
She was born February 20, 1920, in Howell County, Missouri, to William Henry Stoke and Edith Moss (Buren) Stoke. After graduating from Willow Springs High School with the Class of 1937, she attended the William Rockhill Nelson Art Institute and the Norman Feather School of Art in Kansas City. She was employed for several years in the field of commercial art in Kansas City and Washington, D.C. On March 6, 1953, she was married at Kansas City, to Albert Edward Lampitt, of Chicago. They made their home in Chicago, where she was active in the garden club; winning a number of ribbons for her designs. In retirement, she moved with her husband to the Branson area. She was a volunteer at the hospital and wrote feature and human interest articles for several local publications. Mrs. Lampitt was of the Presbyterian faith and in her early years, was active in the young adult division of her church and was artist for the church publications.
She is survived by one sister, Helen Wilborn, husband, Sam, West Plains, Missouri; two step-daughters, Barbara Carter, husband, Bill, Ramsey, Illinois and Susan Magnetta, husband, Ernest, Lombard, Illinois.
Her parents and husband precede her in death.
Mrs. Lampitt will lie in state from 4:00 p.m., Thursday until noon Friday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.


Memorial services for Albert Lampitt, 90, Kirbyville, will be Saturday, Nov. 1a t2 p.m. in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson. The Rev. Floyd "Bud" Arnold will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Mackey Cemetery, Pomona. Mr. Lampitt passed away Thursday, Oct. 2 in Skaggs Community Health Care Center, Branson. He was born November 17, 1912, in Chicago, Ill. Albert was a retired millwright. His talent for building was evident when at the age of 12 he was driving a car built from junk yard salvage. This was followed with a boat and a race car. Then he joined the Carpenters Union until his retirement in 1975 when he moved to the Branson area from La Grange, Ill. In Branson he became active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he enjoyed patrolling Table Rock Lake and taking part in its social activities. He also worked with the Ozark Mountain Hospice. In his spare time he worked with stained glass, making many lovely pieces, some of which won prizes. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one granddaughter. Albert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Grace (Betty) Lampitt; two daughters, Barbara Carter and husband of Ramsey, Ill., Susan Magnetta and husband of Lombard, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; one niece and four nephews. He walked the high steel in his hard hat and left his mark on the skyline of major cities from coat to coast. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
