Goldia Cathren Hall Aldridge, 81, the youngest of six children of Robert and Addie Grogan Hall, was born July 11, 1924, at Grogan. She died Aug. 29, 2005, at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs after a long battle with cancer.
She attended school at Grogan, where she graduated from the eighth grade.
She married Delmar Virgil Aldridge in June 1946. They had one son.
Mrs. Aldridge lived most of her adult life at Tyrone and worked at Angelica Uniform Factory for many years.
She attended the First Free Will Baptist Church at Tyrone and was a member of the ladies auxiliary at Houston. She was active in the community and enjoyed making quilt tops, gardening and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Johnny, Ben and Leslie Hall; and sisters, Vera Russell and Leola Harr.
Surviving are her son, Jimmie Dean Aldridge of Willow Springs; four grandsons, three great-grandsons and dear friend, Ethel Crabtree.
Services were Sept. 1 at the Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home Chapel in Cabool with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial was in the Tyrone Cemetery.


Delmar Virgil Aldridge, 78, son of Joseph and Lestell Chambers Aldridge, was born Sept. 10, 1922, at Tyrone. He died Nov. 27, 2000, at Ozarks Medical Center at West Plains.
One of seven children, he completed the sixth grade at Tyrone School.
He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 6, 1943, to Jan. 31, 1946, during World War II, where he was a heavy artillery specialist serving in the South Pacific. He earned numerous awards and medals for marksmanship, knowledge, bravery and service from foreign affairs.
He was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Goldia Cathren Hall June 29, 1946, in the Grandview community. They had one son.
Mr. Aldridge worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for five years and retired from Rawlings Sporting Goods at Willow Springs after 22 years of employment.
He loved the outdoors, cutting wood, planting garden and deer hunting with his grandsons. He would cook Sunday dinner and tell stories about the "good ol' days".
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Oral Aldridge.
Surviving are his wife of Tyrone; his son, Jimmie Dean Aldridge of Willow Springs; two brothers, Dean of Tyrone and Bob of Springfield; three sisters, Maxine Newberry of Rolla, Marie Grogan of Tyrone and Vernetta Swartz of Springfield; four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 29 at the Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Old Tyrone Cemetery. [Houston Herald, Dec 2000]
