Katie Franklin Shoemaker was born in Covington, Ky. Feb. 12, 1885 and died in Greenville, IL. on April 13, 1979. She was united in marriage to Joseph Floyd Shoemaker at Tyrone, Mo. in 1903 and to this union seven children were born. Survivors are her husband, Joseph Floyd Shoemaker; two daughters, Mrs. Verdie Thome of Florida and Wilma Longwell of Greenville, IL., three sons, Rev. Herschel Shoemaker of Willow Springs; Floyd Shoemaker of Alton, IL. and Howard Shoemaker of Houston. She was preceded in death by two sons, Virgil at six years and James, 12 years old and her parents, one brother and one sister. Other survivors are nine grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Houston for several years. Funeral services were held Monday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Combs officiating. Burial was in the Tyrone Cemetery.

Joseph Floyd Shoemaker, 97, was born November 25, 1883 in West Virginia near Copper Creek, and died November 3, 1980 in Greenville, IL. He moved to Texas County near the Tyrone area with his parents, Epp and Judy Shoemaker in 1895. He was united in marriage February 4, 1904 to Katie Franklin and to this union seven children were born. His wife, Katie preceded him in death April 13, 1979 as did two sons, Virgil and James, his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Rev. Herschel Shoemaker of Willow Springs, Mo., Floyd Shoemaker of Alton, IL. and Howard of Houston; two daughters, Virdie Thorne and Wilma Longwell of Greenville, IL.; 35 great grandchitfren and nine grandchildren. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Houston for 32 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bythel Friend officiating. Burial was in the Tyrone Cemetery.
