Funeral services for James William Nicks, 80, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Nicks died at 3:15 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2013, at West Vue Nursing Center.
He was born February 23, 1933, at Leota, Missouri, to John Gilbert Nicks and Sylvia Gladys Murdock Nicks. On October 28, 1962, he was married at St. Louis, Missouri, to Lucy May Ball, who preceded him in death on September 5, 2005. He was a machine operator at United Technologies Factory in St. Louis for thirty-four years. He was an avid gardener, liked to dance at the Senior Center and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Nicks was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by special friend, Kathleen Muir, West Plains, Missouri; two step-daughters, Joyce Dunlap, husband, Sonny, Virburnum, Missouri and Jackie Harper, West Plains, Missouri; eight step-grandchildren; nineteen step-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Thurman "Pat" Nicks, wife, Irma, Willow Springs, Missouri; one sister, Jennie Watkins, West Plains, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Alice Nicks and Betty Stain; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, one step-son-in-law, Jerry Harper, two step-sons, Gene and Sam Heck, one step-granddaughter, Pam Linberry, two brothers, Gilbert and Delbert Nicks and four sisters, Marie Bright, Mattie Bradley, Betty Nicks and Hazel Lawrence , precede him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.robertsondrago.com. Lucy May Nicks, 82, West Plains, died 9:18 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Ozarks Medical Center. Funeral services, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rose Chapel under direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
