John Michael Dannar, son of Absolum and Susan Hardwick Dannar, was born August 22, 1871, in Worth County, Missouri, and died April 29, 1947, at Worth, Mo., age 75 years 8 months and 7 days.

January 7, 1894, he was married to Clara Belle Jones who passed away December 21, 1937. Nine Children were born to this union. Four sons and four daughters survive. One son, Elvis Dannar, passed away September 6, 1935, after he had grown to manhood.

The children who are left to mourn their father's untimely death are: Marion Dannar, Grant City, Mo.; Amma Gabriel, Gentry, Mo.; Charley Dannar, Grant City; Lillie Redden, Stanberry, Mo.; Eva Meek, Grant City; Dillard Dannar, Worth; Mary Frances Trump, Parnell, Mo.; and John C. Dannar of Worth. One brother, Frank Dannar of New Hampton, Mo. Two sisters, Mrs. Ida Whitehead, Conception Jct, Mo., and Samantha Dyche, St. Joseph, Mo. Twenty-five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Dannar's death was one of the great tragedies of the tornado that struck Worth April 29. He was in town when word was received that a tornado was approaching the town and at once started for the school house to warn the pupils and teacher and get his little granddaughter Kay Frances Dannar at the risk of his own life. When only part of the
way there the tornado struck and he was killed by falling debris.

Mr. Dannar was one of our most highly respected citizens having lived in this community practically all his life; a man in whom all had great trust and confidence and a father dearly beloved by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. No soldier in battle ever met death for a nobler cause.
