Walter Edward Anderson, 81, Independence, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Anderson was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Long Branch, N.J., and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded several Purple Hearts. He was an administrative supervisor with the Department of Agriculture for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He ws a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anderson, on April 28.

His survivors include a brother, Charles Franklin, Independence; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Mary Frances Anderson, 81, Independence, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Independence Regional Health Center. Mrs. Anderson was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Knoxville, MO, and had lived in the Independence area since 1957. She was employed as an assistant buyer in the purchasing department of Remington Arms for 19 years. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and had been the secretary at CAPA for seven years. Her survivors include her husband, Walter Anderson of the home; her sister, Ann Dana, Excelsior Springs, MO; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 pm Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 5 pm Sunday at the chapel.
