Funeral services for Oralee Cearley, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cearley passed away at 7:08 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her home.
She was born May 14, 1928, at Grimmett, Missouri, to Hobart Brixey and Mona Burgin Brixey. Oralee attended school at Turner, Hopkins and Star Schools in the community of Grimmet, Missouri. On March 14, 1946, she was married at Olathe, Kansas, to Nova Cearley, who preceded her in death on May 13, 2008. When she was a young woman she worked at Safeway in Kansas City and after she was married she was a home maker. Mrs. Cearley loved to garden and can and enjoyed flowers. She was a great cook and was well known for her pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls and wild grape jelly. She baked a special cake or pie when it was anyone's birthday and enjoyed baking and cooking for neighbors and friends. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play baseball and basketball. Mrs. Cearley was of the Baptist faith.
Her parents, husband, one daughter, Sharon Dollins, three sisters and three brothers, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cearley will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services for Nova "Papa Pete" Cearley, 82, Pomona, Mo., were held Sunday, May 18, 2008, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Cearley died at 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at his home. He was born June 6, 1925, in Douglas County, Mo., to Virgil and Lula Upshaw Cearley. When he was a baby, Mr. Cearley's family moved to West Plains where he attended the Galloway School. On March 14, 1946, he married the love of his life, Oralee Brixey, at Olathe, Kan. They celebrated 62 years together, and had three daughters. Mr. Cearley followed construction, working in California, Idaho and Columbia, Mo. He moved back to West Plains in 1965 where he built several houses. He was a farmer, raising cattle, hogs and hay. Mr. Cearley loved to make a garden and share the produce with his family and friends. When he was younger, he loved to coon hunt and he enjoyed playing cards with his friends. In his later years, he enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play ball. Everyone called him "Papa Pete" or "The Tootsie Roll Man." Mr. Cearley was baptized into the Christian Church as a child and was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Oralee Cearley, of the family home; two daughters, Barbara Ledford and husband, Jim, of Viola, Ark., and Carolyn Hoover of West Plains, Mo.; three grandchildren, Brian Hoover and wife, Jodie, Christy Hoover and Adam Ledford and wife, Ashley; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Marcus Hoover, Tanner Hoover, Colly Hoover, Brett Wilbanks and Mason Wilbanks; one brother-in-law, Fred Brixey and wife, Agnes, of West Plains, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Brixey of Santa Fe Springs, Ca.; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. His parents; one daughter, Sharon Dollins; two brothers, Elza (Chub) Cearley and Eldon Cearley; and one sister, Doris Matherly, precede him in death. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverways Hospice and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
