Inez Brandt, 97, of Cabool, Mo. passed away at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Kabul Nursing Home where she had been a resident for over 11 years.
Inez was born April 2, 1915 at the home of her parents in the Grimmett community near West Plains. She was the oldest of three children born to Leroy and Iva Morgan. Inez attended West Plains High School although she was able to complete only through the 10th grade due to transportation problems.
On April 14, 1934 she married Clarence E. Brandt, and to this union five children were born; Lee Allen, Clarence R., Garry N., Irma May, and Roy Edward.
Inez moved with her family to the Cabool area, Bado community, in 1951. She lived in the general Bado area until she moved into the Kabul Nursing Home facilities in November, 2001.
Inez became a Christian as a young girl while attending the New Liberty Baptist Church located in Howell County. She was a loving mother who lived an exemplary life and encouraged her children to live a Christian life also. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Cabool. She was loyal in attendance, service, and support of the various church programs.
All who knew and loved Inez was aware of her passion for quilting and embroidery. About the only thing that came before quilting were family and God. She was excellent with a sewing needle and quilted hundreds of quilts for friends and acquaintances.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, a brother, one grandson, and a great granddaughter.
She is survived by two sons, Garry N. and wife, Carolyn of Cabool and Roy Edward and wife, Rita of Windsor; one daughter, Irma Coolidge and husband, Harry of Crescent Valley, Nevada; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Brandt of St. Louis; one sister, Juanita Street and husband, Earl of Florissant; one sister-in-law, Florene Morgan of Cabool. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Wayne Brandt and wife, Julia of Navarre, Fl., Allen Brandt of St. Louis, Belinda Eldringhoff and husband, Ben of Pomona, Garry C. Brandt and wife, Ronda of Camdenton, Douglas L. Brandt of Bolivar, Jacqueline Bullard and husband, John of Crescent Valley, Nevada, La Roy Brandt and wife, Ann of Kirksville, Jeffery Brandt and wife, Brenda of Warrensburg, Tommie Sue Cates and husband, Harry of Windsor, Scott Brandt and wife, Rebecca of Sedalia, twenty great grandchildren with two more expected in 2013, and a host of other family and friends.
