Services for Mrs. Lucille Pearl Weise, 69, longtime school teacher in West Plains, were held April 26 in First Baptist Christian Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Burial was in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson - Drago. Mrs. Weise, organizer of West Plains' first kindergarten classes died in Cox Medical Center, Springfield.
A native of Anderson, Mrs. Weise received her elementary and high school education in the schools of Oklahoma City, Okla. She attended Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, where she received her bachelor of science degree in 1928. Mrs. Weise taught in the Springfield system at Campbell Elementary School under the name Lucille Birks. She retired in 1972.
Mrs. Weise was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and the Retired Teachers Association. She was former president of that group. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd; two half-sisters, Mary Ann Hooten, Cassville; and Marjorie of Chicago, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
