Funeral services for Charles F. Squires, 77, West Plains, will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at the First Church of God, with the Rev. Greg Reeder officiating under the direction of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
Mr. Squires died at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1925, at Detroit, Michigan, the son of John Allison and Arnie Willard Squires.
He graduated from the West Plains High School with the class of 1943.
He was united in Marriage to Jeanne Gullic on Oct 23, 1949, in West Plains.
Mr. Squires was a veteran having served in Europe as a Technician Fifth Grade with the United States Third Army during World War II.
He was a partner of Gullic-Squires Insurance Agency, retiring from the insurance business in 1993. Mr. Squires had served on the West Plains Park Board, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and was a charter member of the West Plains Lions Club. He was a member of the West Plains Country Club, was an avid golfer having scored a hole-in-one five times and was a bowler and enjoyed his league play with the Gullic-Squires Bowling Team.
Mr Squires had been a member of the First Church of God since his youth and was the pitcher on the church's softball team.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Squires, of the family home; two daughters, Kristine Parson and husband, Monty, St. Charles, and Kay Gilreath and husband, Mike, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Charles Jackson, United States Marine Corps, John Jackson, Houston, Texas, and Allison Parson and Sarah Parson, both of St. Charles; five step-grandchildren, Paul Parson and Matthew Parson, both of St. Charles, Patrick Parson, Columbia, S.C., and Caressa Gilreath and Scott Gilreath both of Houston, Texas; one sister, Blanche Rouintree and husband, Carl, Pearisburg, Va; two brothers-in-law Frank Woolman and Tedd M. Gullic and wife, Patricia, all of West Plains; one sister-in-law Joyce Squires, West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alvan E. Quires; and one sister Maxine Woolman.
Military honors will be provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains.
The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Funeral services for Jeanne Gullic Squires, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Squires passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord at 1:20 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Ozarks Medical Center.
She was born July 17, 1925, at Springfield, Missouri, to Turner Sappington and Thelma Tindel Sappington, and later became the step-daughter of Tedd J. Gullic. The summers of her childhood were spent in Milwaukee, where Tedd played professional baseball. She graduated from Koshkonong High School in 1943 and attended Central Radio & TV School in Kansas City in 1943 – 1944. She worked for TWA Airlines in St. Louis as a radio operator from 1944 – 1948. She moved back to West Plains in 1948 and worked for Ed P. Kiesler Insurance. On October 23, 1949, she was married to Charles F. Squires, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2002. To their union two children were born. Jeanne was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She attended the First Church of God where she served faithfully in teaching Sunday school for many years and other activities. She sang with the Church of God quartet. In 1972 Jeanne became the first female West Plains School Board member. Jeanne loved the Lord, her family, church and her hometown, West Plains.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristine Parson and husband, Monty, O’Fallon, Missouri and Kay Gilreath and husband, Michael, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Charles Jackson and wife, Vanessa, Allison Parson Worrell and husband Mark, John Jackson and wife, Nadia, and Sarah Parsons; five step-grandchildren, Paul Parson and wife, Stephanie, Patrick Parson and wife, Kristy, Matthew Parson and wife, Christina, Carissa Dib and Scott Gilreath and wife, Alejandra; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her very special neighbor and friend, Tori Lipford.
Her parents, step-father, one brother, Tedd M. Gullic and one sister, Ann Cave, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon Bible Society or First Church of God and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
