Graveside services for Mae Vern Sparks, 93, Fordland, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sparks died 1:05 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Westside HealthCare, Marshfield, Missouri.
She was born June 18, 1919 the daughter of Oakley Allen Osborn and Lucy Collins Osborn. On July 3, 1940, she was married at Salem, Arkansas to Kermit Ammon Sparks who preceded her in death on June 2, 1998. During World War II, Mrs. Sparks worked in a defense plant; also, she was employed by the Cudahy Packing Company of San Diego, California and Brown Shoe Company. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Mrs. Sparks was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two children, Darlene Hathcock, Fordland, Missouri and Kermit Sparks, Jr., Vichy, Missouri; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, one grandson, Kermit Sparks, III and her son-in-law, Vanton Hathcock, precede her in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 22nd, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Children's Hospital and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. On line condolences may be expressed at robertsondrago.com.
