E.A. Boon, "Uncle Ab" Boon, 90, died October 9, 1969 at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti. He was born July 17, 1879 in Finley, Tenn., and had been a resident of this area for the past 85 years.
He served as City Collector of Steele for 25 years. He was married to Maggie Howard, who preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ October 12, with Mr. Judson Woodbridge officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with the Original German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Hobert Poteet, Tom Allbritton, W.D. Whitfield, David Whitfield, Roy Barnes and Chester Barnes.
Mr. Boon leaves one sister, Mrs. Lois Cooper, Steele, and one brother, John T. Boon, Turlock, Calif.

Mrs. E.A. Boon of 307 West Main St., Steele, died June 18, 1964, in Steele. Born February 13, 1886, in Tennessee, she was the daughter of Joe and Isabell Warreld Howard. She was 78 years old and had lived in this community for 71 years.
Nannie Margaret Boon, fondly known as "Aunt Maggie" was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services were held at the Church of Christ in Steele on June 19, at 4:00 p.m., Bro. Walter Lumpkin of Holland conducting the service.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, German Funeral Home in charge.
Pall bearers were Gus Cooper, Paul Cooper, Ralph Hall, J.T. Daniels, Buddy Ledford and David Ledford.
Mrs. Boon leaves her husband, E.A. Boon, who will be remembered to many as a former City tax collector for many years; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Johnnie Howard of Steele, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Cooper of Steele.
