Funeral services for Merlin Wayne (Bud) Clarkson, 79, West Plains, Mo., and formerly of Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Plains, Mo., under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, Mo.
Mr. Clarkson died 8:40 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2007, in West Vue Nursing Center, West Plains, Mo. He was born May 19, 1928, in Ottawa to John and Mary (Crawford) Clarkson. On January 9, 1949, Mr. Clarkson was married at Ottawa to Dorothy Jean Abbott who preceded him in death on Sept. 19. 2003. He was employed at John Morrell Meat Company, Ottumwa, Iowa, and before his retirement, was a serviceman with France Fire Extinguisher, West Plains, Mo. Mr. Clarkson enjoyed fishing. He was of the Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by three children, Mike Clarkson, and his wife, Joyce, West Plains, Mo., Raylene Cloud, and her husband, Leonard, Aurora, Mo., and Alan Clarkson, and his wife, Linda, Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren, David, Nathan, Jennifer and Kara; one great-grandchild, Katie; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Prayer services will be 7 p.m. today at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, Mo. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, West Plains, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., West Plains MO 65775. [Ottawa KS Herald, Jul 25, 2007]
