Marion Taylor Roberts, son of the late Louis Alexander and Mary Taylor Roberts, was born in Oregon County, Missouri, on January 25, 1889, and departed this life January 5, 1960, having reached the age of 70 years, 11 months and 10 days.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Thomas Roberts, two daughters, Mrs. Arch L. Cochran and Mrs. Wayne L. James, both of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, George of Willow Springs, Mo., and James of Fort Benning, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. James Fuller and Mrs. Oglesby Johnson, both of Thayer, Mo., and Mrs. Hubert Douglas of Santa Ana, California; one brother, C.T. Roberts of Alton, Missouri, and 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Two children preceded him in death in infancy. He openly professed his faith in Christ on March 23, 1948, seeking membership in the First Methodist Church of Eminence, Missouri, and remained in faithful membership there until the date of his passing this life.
His attribute to humanity was the understanding of his fellow man.

Cora was the daughter of Rev. Enoch Lafayette and Iva Jane (White) Thomas. She departed this life at Springfield Health Care Center January 22, 1986, at the age of 90 years.
Most of her youth was spent in Shannon County where on September 13, 1915 she was married to Marion Taylor "Cotton" Roberts. To this union the following children were born, Paula, twins George & James, & twins Louise and Lucille. Lucille died in infancy.
Cora professed her faith in Christ as a young woman and was a longtime member of the First United M.E. Church of Eminence. She was director of the youth activities. She was a lover of flowers and had a large garden from which she kept bouquets of seasonal flowers in the sanctuary of the church for Sunday services. At one time she had a flower and gift shop on Main Street. She enjoyed visiting with friends and customers and was interested in civic affairs; anything that was for the betterment of the community. Cora spent many hours when living in Eminence, helping with those who were ill, assisting a doctor with the delivery of babies, and helped with the lining of coffins that her brothers built. She truly was a willing worker in time of need.
After Cotton passed away, Mimmie moved to Springfield to be near her children, at which time she placed her membership in Grace United M.E. Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and participated in church activities as long as her health permitted. In later years she spent much time assembling and dressing dolls which she enjoyed so much. She was happiest when friends and family stopped by her apartment to visit with her.
She is survived by her daughters Paula Cochran and her husband Arch; Louise and her husband Wayne James of Springfield, MO; sons, James and wife Pat, and George and wife Samme Roberts of Willow Springs. She was the grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 15 and had one great-great grandchild and one step grandchild. Several nieces and nephews survive.
