Janet Joy King, 57 of Willow Springs, Mo., passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo. She was born on Feb. 19, 1952, in West Plains, Mo., the daughter of George Albert and Suzie Grace Rayetta (Spencer) McCormick. Janet grew up in the Willow Springs area and graduated from Willow Springs High School. She was united in marriage to Billy Joe King on March 12, 1982. She dedicated her life to being a loving mother, wife and caregiver. She enjoyed numerous things, such as crafts, puzzles, card games, bowling, bluegrass and gospel music, working in her flower garden and watching her birds. Janet was a "Wanna Be Gambler"; she enjoyed it, but didn't take too many risks. She had accumulated a large collection of salt and pepper shakers; she could find a use for anything! She also loved to fish but not in a boat. Janet was a gracious and loving wife and mother whose generosity and loving spirit abound many times over with always a helping hand and watchful eye. She would always help someone who needed it. With a strong will, it seemed she could endure anything dealt her way. We will miss her and love her ‘til the end of our times. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Charlie, Jack and Leon McCormick. She is survived by her husband, Billy J. King of the home; her children, Jacky Shannon Eaton, Brad Lewis King and wife, Ashley and Heather Joy Taylor and husband, Flara; grandchildren, Taylor and Madison King and Angel; brothers and sisters, Delbert McCormick and wife, Barbara of Springfield, Mo., Sue Brixey and husband, Ronnie of Prineville, Ore., Della Hollis of Willow Springs, Mo., and foster brother, Bill Jackson of Willow Springs, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Pauline McCormick and Bobbie McCormick; daughter-in-law, Tina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at the Bethel Community Church near Willow Springs, Mo., with Pastor Lloyd Collins officiating. Pallbearers were Frank Clinton, Richard Wake, Tom Hicks, Everette McCormick, Sean McCormick and Flara Taylor. Interment was in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Mo.
