Catherine Strode Offutt, 98, Springfield, Mo. passed away at 3:05 pm Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Primrose Place. Catherine was born Dec. 27, 1901, to the late John Fenton and Lillian Jane Day Strode in Ashland, Mo. Mrs. Offutt moved to Springfield in 1927, and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler H. Offutt in 1982. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Jerry Atwater, New Jersey; two grandsons, Terrill Atwater, New Jersey, and Bradley Atwater and his wife, Margie, Georgia; and a great-granddaughter, Katherine Atwater, Georgia. Funeral services will be at 10 am today, Jane. 24, 2000 in Gorman-Scharpf University Chapel with private burial in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am today in the funeral home.
