Funeral services for Ray Leroy Redburn, 70, West Plains, Missouri, formerly of Houston, Texas , will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Ray Leroy Redburn passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. He was born in West Plains, Missouri, surrounded by strong family ties. At West Plains High School, he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in basketball and track, and engendering a life-long passion for sports. After high school, he served in the Navy before attending college at Rolla School of Mines and the University of Kansas where he received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. After being awarded membership in the American Institute of Architects, he worked for various architecture firms in Kansas City; Newport Beach, California; Aspen, Colorado and Houston, Texas before starting his own firm, Redburn Architects, based in Houston.
Ray was devoted to his son, Spencer Redburn, to his other family members and to his friends and community. He touched many young lives through his 20 years of coaching intramural and little league sports. A singularly kind and gentle man, he achieved much in his life, always with quite dignity and caring.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth Montgomery Redburn and Fred Redburn, and his sister, Kathy. He is survived by his son, Spencer and his mother, Dianna Redburn Johnson; his brother and two sisters and their families: Floyd Redburn and Marsha Harris; Joyce and Gary Smith, son Mathew and Erica Smith, and their daughter, Brianna; Barbara and Mark Goodwin, sons, Scott Goodwin and Tim and Kelly Goodwin, and their daughter, Olivia.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 20 13, at Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. On line condolences may be expressed at robertsondrago.com.
