1-82 UNKNOWN

Springfield National Cemetery
Greene County,
Missouri

These entries are all Confederate Unknown soldiers and just a small portion of the many Unknown Confederate burials.

There are 566 Confederate gravesites in the Confederate section of the Springfield National Cemetery, most of which are unknown. Most of the Union and Confederate burials are from the Battle of Wilson's Creek, but there are earlier remains removed from the original burial sites at Forsyth, Newtonia, Carthage, Pea Ridge, and Springfield.

The original cemetery at this location was a Confederate Cemetery and was incorporated into the Springfield National Cemetery. Various acreages have been added over the years making what the cemetery is now, which also includes Veterans from several wars.

In addition there are 1,514 Union burials in the cemetery, of which 719 are unknown.
