Mrs. Elise Counts of O'Fallon, Mo., passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at her daughter's home. Born on March 20, 1930, to Perry and Delia (McClellan) Woods in Seminole County, Okla., she was 79 years old. As a young girl, Mrs. Counts moved with her family from Oklahoma to Willow Springs, where she attended the local schools. On April 12, 1947, she was married to Herman G. Counts in West Plains, Mo. To this union, three children were born. She has lived in the St. Louis area for the past 40 years. She enjoyed travel, the theater and dining out. She was described by her family as a devout Christian woman, who led many people to the Lord by her example. It was said by her family that she was filled with love, caring, and compassion for others. In fact, she cared for her parents and brother while they were in the last stages of their illnesses until their passing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman G. Counts; sister Helen M. Woods; brother Cleatus Woods; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Counts is survived by her children Melinda K. Ray of O'Fallon, Mo.; Leland Eugene Counts and his wife Marilyn of Salem, Mo.; and Charles David Counts of Jackson, Mo. She is further survived by four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. at the Willow Funeral Home, located at 106 E. Third Street in Willow Springs. Burial will follow the service at Howell Memorial Park in Pomona, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
