Opal June (Larson) Hale passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 85 years. Mrs. Hale was born in Brainerd, Minn., to George and Winnifred (Griffith) Larson, on Feb. 10, 1925. She attended several rural Howell County grade schools then her freshman year at Mountain View, two years in Willow Springs and graduated from West Plains High School in 1943. Upon graduation, she was employed as a factory worker in West Plains, Mo In 1947, Opal married Clyde E. Hale of West Plains on Jan. 24. To this union, three children were born. She was a full-time homemaker and long -time member of First Baptist Church in Willow Springs where she taught Sunday school and GAs for many years. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life: she was always there to listen, always interested in their lives, daily prayed for each of them, teaching them that God is in control and is still on His throne. She never wavered in her faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She very much enjoyed sending cards to friends and family, always uniquely decorating each card in order to make the recipient feel special and loved. Mrs. Hale was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of nearly 50 years, Clyde. She is survived by two daughters, Carol and the late Herman Aldridge of Cabool, Mo., and Jenny Pigg and husband Don of Willow Springs, Mo.; one son, Kevin Hale and wife Jan of Lenexa, Kan.; five grandchildren, Shelly Kruse and husband Dave of Willow Springs, Mo., Bill Combs of Park Hills, Mo., Kim Cochran and husband Chris of Willow Springs, Mo., Matt Pigg of Willow Springs, Mo., Robbie Hale, student at College of the Ozarks; four great-grandchildren, Andrea Kruse of Cabool, Mo., Caleb, Tate, and Karis Cochran of Willow Springs, Mo.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lyndee Kruse of Cabool, Mo. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Larson and wife Jean of Zealand, Mi.; two sisters, Laurel and the late Larry Batson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Hazel and husband Farrel Eubanks of Denver, Colo.; brother-in-law Bill Hale and wife Wilma of West Plains, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Willow Springs. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Willow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International and left at the funeral home.
