Mr. Ronald C. Altis, 63, of Forsyth, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 31 in the Cabool City Cemetery, Cabool, MO.
Ronald Carl Altis was born Wednesday, September 5, 1951 in Waterloo, IA to Robert James and Doris Jean (Woods) Altis. He attended Cabool High School and graduated in 1969. After graduation, Ron attended Evangel College in Springfield and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelors in Business. During his time at Evangel, He met Debra Peterson and they were married in 1973 in Columbia, MO. During Ron's life, he has had a variety of occupations. He hauled hay, and worked at a fertilizer plant during his high school years. Later in life, he was a district Manager for The Medicine Shoppe in charge of overseeing the opening of new stores all over the country. He then opened his own medical supply company, Altis and Associates. He has lived in Missouri and has lived in Southern California for twenty-seven years. He moved to Forsyth to be near his mother in 2013.
Ron really enjoyed playing sports and was on the Cabool High School football team when they won the State Championship in 1969. He also participated in Track and Field while attending Evangel College. He also enjoyed music and was a very talented composer and guitar player.
Ron was a very caring and giving man. He had a great sense of humor and selflessly volunteered his time and talents in his local churches and with the Teen Challenge program. While living in California, he earned a Masters in Theology where he served as an Associate Pastor. .He attended the Faith and Wisdom Church in Branson. Most of all he was a loving son, brother and friend to all.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Altis of Forsyth; three brothers, David Altis and wife, Cheryl of Forsyth, Larry Altis and wife, Merlene of Coweta, OK, and Randy Altis and wife, Ronda of St. James, MO and nine nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert James Altis.
