Beulah C. Altis, daughter of James E. and Gillie Andrews Poe died October 24, 1984 in Texas County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Pineville, West Virginia on May 11, 1902. A graduate of Cotley College and Central Missouri State College, she taught in the elementary schools for 39 years retiring in 1968. Children learned under her teaching in Cabool, the Panama Canal Zone, Rolla and Raytown, Missouri.
She was married to Willard P. Altis residing in Kansas city until they retired to Cabool.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Cabool. Also, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving is a niece, Mary Frances Smith, Weslaco, Texas; two nephews James H. Poe, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jerry B. Poe, Tempe, Arizona; and three great nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 27, with the Rev. Richard Wakefield officiating at Elliott Gentry Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery. [Cabool Enterprise, Nov 1984]
