Pioneer Lady Passes Away: Mrs. Louisa W. Cunningham, age 83 years, 4 months and 2 days, passed away at the home of her son, T. C. Cunningham, early Tuesday morning, following a short illness. The funeral services were held at the Christian church, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Joseph A. Deatherage Louisa W. Cunningham, daughter of Drury and Ellen Tate, was born in Washington County, Virginia, July 20, 1844. She was united in marriage to J. M. Cunningham of same state in 1863, and came to Missouri in 1866, and settled on a farm on Elk Creek in Texas County. After a few years they moved to Cabool, where the family has since made their home.
Shortly after coming to Texas county they both became converted to the cause of Christ and united with the Christian church. She and her husband were charter members of the local church and were instrumental in the organization of the church. He, under the sweet influence of faithfulness to that cause, entered the ministry in which capacity he rendered service which lead many souls to bow to the mandates of the King. Wherein she supervised and maintained a sweet home. Amid his frequent absence thereby lending him help in his noble work of the ministry. He finished his work on this earth October 21, 1906. To this union were born 10 children, four of whom proceeded her to the great beyond. The children living are: Mrs. D. T. Ward of Bartlesville, Okla., and Mrs. J. J. Nestor of Springfield, Mr. S. L. Cunningham, Mrs. F. W. Neff, Mr. Tom Cunningham and Mr. Jim Cunningham of Cabool, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of death. [Cabool Enterprise, Nov 24, 1927]
