George Rodney Darter, 57 of Cabool, MO left this world for his heavenly home on November 22, 2010. He was born on October 1, 1953 on his family farm in the Pea Ridge Community south of Cabool, the 7th child of Homer and Edna (Jackson) Darter. George grew up on the family farm, enjoying his youth. He made memories with his family and neighbor kids that carried all thru his life. He attended Cabool Schools and graduated with the class of 1971. After graduating, he worked for Cabool Tire & Muffler. In 1979, he began his career as a truck driver; thru his years of trucking he drove for Ed Brewer, CFI, TMC, General Electric, Jim Wake and Dan Cline. He was a very dedicated worker and enjoyed being on the road. He made a lot of friends and was known by his CB handle, Missouri Roadhog. George was married to his soul mate, Avril, who he traveled thru life with for 28 years. In January of 1980 he became a Dad to his daughter, Amber Jean. Anyone who knew George would tell you she was the apple of his eye. He took his role as a father very seriously. When Amber married Jason Luna, he welcomed him to the family with open arms; he thought of Jason as if he was his own son. George began his walk as a Christian at a young age. He attended the Pea Ridge Church at that time and would later join the First United Methodist Church in Cabool. He was diagnosed with Kidney Disease in 1984; it continued to progress and in 1996 he was forced to retire. He started a battle with his health at that time and that lasted for 14 years. During that time he had 2 kidney transplants, one in which his wife, Avril was the donor. It was his faith in the Lord that carried him thru these hard years. He was an inspiration to many for the strength he displayed. George loved the outdoors; he had a real passion for deer hunting. It was the time of year that he looked forward to the most. He loved visiting with family and friends, any memories he made with them he held close to his heart. He had a sharp sense of humor and kept everyone laughing. George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Darter; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Haney and a sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Avril of their home; his daughter, Amber Luna and husband, Jason of Vanzant; his siblings, Hubert Darter and wife, Myrna of Cabool, Shirley Abrahamson and husband, Murray of Cedar Hill, Dorothy Gaylor and Doris Darter of Harrison, AR, John Darter and wife, Rona of Sparta and Jerry Darter and wife Shelly of Sparta; a sister-in-law, Linda Long and husband, Paul of Independence; as well as a host of many relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
