Dr. Billy Joe Roberts MD., passed away April 18, 2009. He was born August 14, 1927, to Gersham and Lulu Davis Roberts, in Cabool, Mo. He graduated from Cabool High School and attended Drug College in Springfield, Mo. He attended Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. He was a graduate of the Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. He served his internship at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. He began his family practice in Richland, Mo., for 2 ½ years, then moved his family to South Bend, Ind., in October, 1957, and practiced medicine until he retired in August, 1982. He then moved to Cape Coral, Fla., in 1984. He was a member of St. Joe County Medical Association, Ind. State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Cape Coral, Fla. He was also a member of Palmetto Pine Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Vada, of 59 years; also daughter, Patti Kuruzar; and three grandchildren, Stephanie of South Bend, Ind., Tim of San Diego, Calif., and Kevin of Fishers, Ind.; great-grandson Aidan Pearson of South Bend, Ind.; and sister Betty Roberts of Cabool, Mo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, K. Edward; his parents; brother Gilbert; and sister Roberta Jones. Dr. Bill's family would like to express their gratitude to the "Angels" at Hope Hospice House North (Diplomat), who cared for him with loving care.
