Francis Eugene Kellems, Sr., 81, died in Memphis, Tenn. He was born on November 16, 1916, the son of the late James Francis Kellems and Emma Higdon Kellems.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Steele.
He is survived by the following: his wife, Catherine Frakes Kellems of Steele; one son, Francis Eugene Kellems, Jr., of Steele; one daughter in law, Wanda Kellems of Steele; one brother, Chester Kellems of Jackson, Miss.; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Church of Christ in Steele on September 9, 1998, at 2 p.m., with Bill Lovelace officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.

Catherine Kellems, 91, of Steele, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born Oct. 12, 1918 in Pemiscot County, she is the daughter of the late Ollie Ferdinand Frakes and Almeda Larue Frakes. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Adell Capps, Melba Lane, and Alma Jean Johnson.
Catherine was united in marriage to Francis Eugene Kellems, Sr. on Oct. 13, 1933. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Steele.
Mrs. Kellems leaves one son, Eugene Kellems and Wanda, of Steele; one granddaughter, Rita Cassidy and Chris, of Blytheville, Ark.; one grandson, Gary Kellems and Renee, of Steele; one sister, Geraldine Young and Pete, of Steele; two brothers-in-law: Gervis Capps of Steele, and Chester Kellems, of Memphis; her great-grandchildren, Melissa Cassidy and Phillip, Christopher Kellems and Victoria, and Keith, Kyle and Katelynn Cassidy; her great-great-grandsons: Brandson and Lawson Kellems; and her great-great-granddaughter to be born in Gebruary, Kayleigh Rose Kellems.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kellems was held at 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20, at the Church of Christ in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Gary Kellems, Chris Cassidy, Phillip Cassidy, Kyle Cassidy, Christopher Kellems and Jimmy Kennedy.
