Napolean B. Melton, 86, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.
Born Tuesday, December 30, 1913 in Carroll County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Robert Melton and Febbie Pinkston Melton. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Celia Anderson and Delia Ellis; and five brothers: Scott Melton, Auther Melton, Perry Melton, Carley Melton, and Roosevelt Melton.
He was a retired mill work and of the Baptist faith.
N.B. was united in marriage to Evelyn Welch on September 28, 1940 in Caruthersville, Mo.
Mr. Melton leaves his wife, Evelyn Melton, of Steele; one son, John Melton and his wife Ellen, of Canton, Ill.; two daughters: Glodeana Ryan and her husband Harold of Weldon, Ill., and Diane Gouin of Camden, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Melton were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2000 at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with Mr. Gary Johns officiating.
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of srvices.
Pallbearers were Harold Ryan, John Janowski, Paul Rutherford, Jason Jenkins, Michael Parks and Sharon Clark.
Flora Evelyn Melton, 86, of Clinton, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ill.
Born Sept. 14, 1919 in Pemiscot County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Welch and Mary Katherine Hall Welch. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
She was united in marriage to N.B. Melton on Sept. 28, 1940. He preceded her in death.
She worked for many years as a school cook and also worked as a nurses aide. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
Mrs. Melton leaves one son, John Melton and Ellen, of Canton, Ill.; Two daughters: Glodean Ryan and Harold of Weldon and Diane Lockhart and Tom of Camden, Tenn.; Five grandchildren: Denica Janowski and Jon of Abilene, Texas, Shannon Clark and Eve of Mt. Zion, Ill., Sonya Rutherford and Paul and Treena Jenkins and Jason of Memphis, Tenn., and Joseph Gouin and Tonya of Millington, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren: Joseph, Kirsten, Cassie and Hannah.
Graveside services for Mrs. Melton were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2006 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John Mundy officiating.
Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Jason Jenkins, Pasul rutherford, Wayne Roberts, Kirk Schwartz, Joseph Gouin, Bill Melton and James Davidson.
