William Jessie Morgan, 86, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born March 27, 1922, in Bogota Tenn., son of the late William Franklin and Nellie Mae Scofield Morgan, he was a farm laborer and a member of the Full Gospel Church.

On Feb. 22, 1968, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Betty Louise Guy, who survives.

Survivors also include five sons, Larry and Glen Morgan, both of Hayti, Mo., Williams Morgan, of Caruthersville, Donald Morgan, of Hollywood, Fla., and Tommy Thompson, of Kansas City, Mo.; seven daughters, Brenda Mundt, of Dalmatia, Penn., Judie Hudgens and Peggy Josett, both of Helena, Mont., Brenda Kay Rudy, of Warsaw, Mo., Regina Goodman, of Kansas City, Mo., Sandra Lee Kephart, of Corning, Mo., and Betty Darlene Morgan, of Kennett; one brother, J.P. Morgan; 36 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Sammy Morgan; one daughter, Roberta Morgan; one brother, Tommy Morgan; his first wife, Gladys Short and one great-granddaughter, Tina Kackley.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, Mo.

Pallbearers were Matt Myers, Elliot Baker, Jerry Hudgens, and Jimmy, Ricky and Jamie Morgan.
